After a long COVID induced hiatus, I bring you episode 4! This episode is all about diabetes. Dr. Clayton Cowl gives an overview of the condition. Then, Andrew Schmertz, CEO of Hopscotch Air, shares his adventures in being in the sky with insulin.

  1. Dear Dr. Van,

I really enjoy listening to your podcasts! I was so sorry to hear about you sister. I am in an ALS clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic and therefore a frequent Rochester visitor. I very much appreciate the care I am receiving at the Mayo Clinic. I don’t know if you are aware of the the aviation significance of the Gonda building. In an indirect way there is a Smithsonian connection too, so you have come full circle!

The Gonda Building https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonda_Building is named after Leslie Gonda https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Gonda who was the co-founder of ILFC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Lease_Finance_Corporation. The other co-founder was
    Steven F. Udvar-Házy.

Leslie Gonda’s life story is absolutely amazing!

    1. Hello Mr. Korner,

Thanks for listening and your condolences. It was both tough and rewarding to record. I also appreciate your interesting connection onthe Gonda Building and Smithsonian. I love those kind of quirks in life. A small world indeed sometimes. I hope everything goes well with your care and career. Let us know if we can help in anyway!
